President Obama has launched his most scathing attack on Presumptive Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump, blasting his ‘Muslim ban’ and saying he is going against American values with his comments and propositions.
Obama said that ideas such as the Muslim ban on Immigrants were “doing the terrorists’ work for them,”
Obama’s comments on Tuesday came after a meeting with the Treasury Department with Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State John Kerry and other national security advisors that focused on efforts to cut off the finances of ISIS. He also said that the campaign against Islamic State is “firing on all cylinders” and that the “noose is tightening” around the group’s territory in Iraq and Syria, before launching into a lengthy condemnation of Republican rhetoric about “radical Islam.”
“Are we going to start treating all Muslim Americans differently” than other citizens, Obama asked. “Are we going to start discriminating against them because of their faith?”
‘If the U.S. goes down down that path “we would have betrayed the very things we’re trying to protect,” the president said. “And then the terrorist would have won, and we cannot let that happen. I will not let that happen. The main contribution of some Republicans has been to “criticize this administration and me for not using the phrase ‘radical Islam.’”
“What exactly would using this label accomplish?” he asked. “Would it make ISIL less committed to trying to kill Americans? Would it bring in more allies? Is there are military strategy that is served by this? The answer,” he said, is “none of the above.”
“This is a political distraction,” he said. “Someone seriously thinks that we don’t know who we’re fighting? That would come as a surprise to the thousands of terrorists who we’ve taken off the battlefield.”
Trump in his usual fashion, replied to Obama’s comments saying Obama was more angry with him than the Orlando shooter, drawing cheers from the crowd.
“He was more angry at me than he was at the shooter,” Trump said. “We’re led by the stupid people,” Trump said at one point. “We’re not going to be fools anymore.”

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode today June 14th, marked his 53rd birthday with a special luncheon to raise funds for the provision of three Mobile Cancer Centres across the three Senatorial Districts in the State, with a call on Nigerians to join hands together to wage war against the scour
Ambode who spoke at an event tagged #GivingTuesdayLagos put together by the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy (CECP-Nigeria), which coincided with his 53rd Birthday, said the Centres would go a long way to save millions of Nigerians from preventable suffering and death. Lamenting the rate at which the terminal disease has claimed thousands of lives in recent times, the Governor said it was unacceptable and therefore calls for concerted efforts from all and sundry.
He said the war against cancer was one that the government cannot tackle alone, hence the need for Nigerians to extend their philanthropy towards the scourge.
“Lives are lost every day to cancer and this is unacceptable. This is why the Lagos State Government carries out public health programmes focused on cancer. I believe that the government alone cannot solve every problem; everyone has a role to play. In my one year in office, I have come to realise that even with the best will in the world, Government cannot do everything. The real challenge before me as Governor of Lagos is how I unite public, private and philanthropic sectors in building our state. I am therefore, glad that through this private sector led initiative I can play a role in helping to advance the BIG WAR Against Cancer for the well-being of not just the good people of Lagos State but Nigerians in general. We can only achieve this goal with the generous support of all people of goodwill. Without these donations, the goal would not be reached and the opportunity to save lives would be lost,” he said.
Governor Ambode, who commended the CECP and philanthropists who donated towards the purchase of the first set of Mobile Cancer Centres, said that though the initial target was for one Centre in Lagos, having three centres in each of the senatorial districts in the State was a priority for him.
“The purpose of this Luncheon is to raise funds for One Mobile Cancer Centre for Lagos but I would like to challenge us all to not only give towards the provision of one Mobile Cancer Center but towards the provision of three Mobile Cancer Centers servicing each of the senatorial districts of Lagos; as the Centre of Excellence and Africa’s model City-State. This would help to save millions of Nigerians from preventable suffering and death. We can only achieve this goal with the generous support of all people of goodwill. Without these donations, the goal would not be reached and the opportunity to save lives would be lost,” he said.
He also expressed the readiness of his administration to mobilise philanthropists and Corporate Organisations towards establishing a comprehensive Cancer Centre in Lagos within the next three years, starting with making available a piece of land in any part of the State as well as facilitating speedy paper work.
“This is not really a celebration but a call to service. Against all odds; against all the things happening to the economy in the country; against the numbers; against the anxieties and the panic, we are still able to stand up and gather ourselves together and say we want to give back to humanity, that is symbolic and key for me and I think we must commend ourselves that all hope is not lost. There is more value to us and humanity in championing this course,” he said.
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today Tuesday June 14th stormed the Lagos residences of former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, taking away cars and other valuables.
The two homes raided were the former minister’s private residence at Park View Estate in Ikoyi and the house near Banana Island, also in Ikoyi where his two sons, Jide and Gbolahan live with their families.
The antigraft agents took along with them vehicles, wristwatches and other personal effects of the former minister and his sons, who are all in the United States.
Obanikoro’s media aide, Jonathan Eze, released a statement detailing what transpired. The statement reads
“Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Tuesday in their characteristic Gestapo like manner invaded Senator Obanikoro’s houses in Ikoyi with unnecessary intimidation and harassment of occupants who are majorly innocent kids, teenagers, his wife and daughter in-laws not without carting away cars, wristwatches and other valuables. This is against the backdrop of the fact that the anti- graft agency has never invited him nor his sons for questioning beyond the tirades and allegations they have been propagating using the media spaces. We are using this medium to draw attention of all Nigerians to yet another infringement on the fundamental and inalienable rights of the Obanikoro family. Lovers of freedom should not wait until our democracy is put at irreversible damage. The list of human rights violations and political persecution has reached an alarming rate. We see this as an affront and a further show of shame and ignominy of this present administration hell bent in politically persecuting its perceived opponents in other to stoop them and rubbish their hard earned reputation of untainted public services. To our chagrin, the vehicles driven away were cars and trucks bought since 2006 and thereabouts when Senator Obanikoro served as an Ambassador in Ghana among others which obviously had no bearing with the purported investigation they are supposedly carrying out.
We condemn in strong terms the brigandage and the idea of Inflicting trauma on innocent dependants and violating their privacies without recourse to the rule of Law. Senator Obanikoro has consulted with his Lawyers and are prepared to meet them in court to stop this intrusions and persecution,”.
Spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwajeren, confirmed the raid of Obanikoro’s home. He said
“I can tell you that no one was harassed in the course of the search and that it is part of ongoing investigation on the man. Our operatives who went there conducted their affairs in best practices and took some vehicles away. I cannot immediately give inventory on the things that were carted away but that will be made known in due time. I do not think we need any permission from the man to do our job. Full details will be disclosed when we get there,” he said.
Remember the groom who burst into tears as his bride walked down the aisle to him? Anna Deku has revealed via instagram that they both dated for four years and waited till marriage to have sex. Below is what she shared on Instagram five days ago:
“If someone told me 4 years ago that me and my future husband would be waiting until marriage to have sex, I would have been on the floor laughing lol! But all things are definitely possible through Christ
We live in a “try before you buy” world. A world where we are told to do whatever makes us “happy” in the short term. A world where having self-control is a bad thing. A world where we can somehow get the result without going through the process. I remember in my last relationship, when I decided to stop having sex, I was able to clearly see the negative attributes I wasn’t seeing before. Some of you are in relationships that you shouldn’t be in but the sex gives you a false sense of intimacy and connection that wouldn’t be there if you weren’t having sex. People think we follow rules but we follow our Father who loves us more than we love each other. We choose to submit to our creator who knows us better than we know ourself and it has been so worth it. The depth of conversations, the way we resolve arguments, the foundation of our relationship. All established before the sex”
